1. Who is your classmate, what is the component category, what is the name of the choice?

I read Andrea Pruett blog on Group 3 My California authors, The Un-California by Daniel Weintraub, Rocks in the shape of Billy Martin by Deanne Stillman, How many Angels by Davin Kipen, and Centered by Veronique de Turenne.

2. What is something this classmate said about the choice that relates to any of the assignments in projects 2-3?

Andrea mentions the sterotypes that are placed on California and how many outsiders think that most places are stuck up. This sterotype was mentioned a lot in projects 2-3.

3. What is something different this classmate said about their choice that you did not realize before when you completed projects 2-3?

With the Un-California story, Andrea writes about John Burton walking around Sacramento without security. I did not realize who John Burton was until I looked it up and found out that he was a Democratic California state senator from 1996 to 2004. Burton was responsible for expanding the Cal Grant scholarship program and for requiring California business to pay for health insurance for their workers.

4. How would you relate this to Freire's ideas regarding dialogue? For example, you went in thinking one idea, your classmate had a different idea. What new idea emerged from this process?

Andrea authors wrote about places in California that made an impact on them through the years. I see now that I have taken California for granted and at times was too busy to stop and just take in how beautiful California can be.

5. How has project 2-3 helped you with the readings of the textbook

It has helped me by setting the groundwork for exploring different California cities and having a better understanding about each city, so that I can better understand the perspective of each author.
